Mission
The TLC Culture School was established as a mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Bernardsville in 2004. The idea for the school grew out of conversations between Pastor Chester Kim and adoptive families in the congregation. Pastor Kim also visited Camp Friendship, a local Korean culture camp, and was impressed by each family’s commitment and desire to learn about Korean culture. Out of these events, the TLC Culture School was born.
Cultural awareness is fostered through classes, and through the school's annual Korean Culture festival, held every fall. Future plans include cultural exchanges with members of the Praise Presbyterian Church.
The school operates on a non-profit basis, and is staffed by volunteers. Funding is achieved through tuition, donations, and fund-raising events.
